Wayne State University is 19th in the nation with 385.50 points in the latest 2007-08 U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup standings. The Division II spring report included all championships that have concluded.
WSU earned 93 points from three spring sports teams (men's golf, softball and men's tennis), with baseball to be included in the final report to be released in June.
Wayne State received 50 points in softball based on the squad's third place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship earlier this month in Edwardsville, Ill.
The Warrior men's golf team earned 18 points with a 51st place national finish. WSU was sixth in the Great Lakes Regional, one of 10 regionals across the country.
WSU's men's tennis squad garnered 25 points with a tie-for-33rd nationally.
WSU is second among GLIAC schools trailing only national leader Grand Valley.
The latest update included the spring sports of women's golf, men's golf, women's lacrosse, softball, women's tennis and men's tennis.
The final standings will be released on June 11 and include baseball, men's lacrosse, women's rowing, and men's and women's indoor track and field.
Wayne State placed 24th in 2006-07, the best finish ever in school history.
