General Information On Wayne State Cheerleading

The Wayne State Cheerleaders excite the crowd at home football and men's and women's basketball games. The team may travel to select away games. Cheerleaders will also make appearances at various campus events and volunteer in the local community.

Currently the squad is composed of males and females. Team members are required to attend summer practices to prepare for camp as well as football season. Our season ends in late February/early March with the conclusion of basketball season, unless the squad attends competition.

In addition to practices, games, and community events, cheerleaders are expected to participate in weight training activities. Each squad member will meet with our strength and conditioning coaches to determine their personal workout regimen. It is expected that all cheerleaders complete workouts at least twice a week.

All uniforms, warm-ups, bags and travel expenses are provided by the athletic department. Cheerleaders are expected to purchase items of personal apparel including, but not limited to, practice clothes, shoes, briefs, and socks.
