Logan Hughes completed his first season as a graduate assistant coach in 2008-09 for the Wayne State baseball team. He also joined the football coaching staff this season as a graduate assistant working with the kickers and wide receivers.
A graduate of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL), he is currently enrolled in WSU's sports administration graduate program.
Hughes was an assistant baseball coach at UMSL from 2005-07, while also serving as a varsity assistant football coach and assistant basketball coach at Parkway North High School during that time. He was an assistant Coach at College of the Ozarks in 2007-2008.
He was a Junior College Baseball All-American in 2001 while competing at North Arkansas where he hit .511 with 15 home runs and 76 RBIs. Hughes later earned All-GLVC conference honors and All-Region accolades in 2004 as a third baseman at UMSL. In addition, Hughes was the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2003 and 2004.
He still ranks among the Tritons all-time best in RBI (6th with 112) and doubles (8th with 34). He tied the school record with 56 RBI in 2003 and recorded another 56 RBI the following season. His 21 doubles in 2003 is the second best mark in UMSL history, while his 70 hits in 2004 is ninth all-time.
