ERIE, Pa. - Wayne State lost its second straight GLIAC contest with a 7-2 loss at Mercyhurst in Sunday's first game of a league doubleheader. The Warriors fall to 7-17 overall and 5-2 in the conference standings while the Lakers' record improves to 14-10, 3-4.

First baseman Jon Weisman (Woodhaven, Mich.) continued his hot week with a double in the first inning that scored Jason Chapieski (Windsor, Ont.) and Derek Ranck (Clarkston, Mich.).

In the bottom of the inning, three-run homer by MC's Joe Luli put the Lakers on top 3-2 after one inning. Mercyhurst added two more runs in the second and scored another pair of unearned runs in the fifth for a 7-2 lead.

The Warriors scored their final run of the game in the top of the seventh as Kevin Kadrofske (Roseville, Mich.) led off with a double to right center. Following a Kyle Miller (Farmington Hills, Mich.) base hit through the right side, Chapieski hit an RBI-single up the middle to score Kadrofske. Chapieski had three of Wayne State's six hits, and also had a stolen base for his ninth stolen base in eight games.

Freshman Anthony Bass (Trenton, Mich.) was handed the loss (1-2) in just 2.0 innings of work. He gave up seven hits and five earned runs before junior Dan Barnes (Grand Ledge, Mich.) struck out three and allowed two hits in the remaining 4.0 innings.
