ERIE, Pa. - WSU lost its second one-run game at Mercyhurst with a 3-2 defeat in the final game of the weekend series. The Lakers (15-10, 4-4 GLIAC) win the season series 3-1 as Wayne State falls to 7-18 overall and 5-3 in the GLIAC.

For the 13th game this season, WSU scored in the first inning as Jon Weisman (Woodhaven, Mich.) hit a single up the middle to score Scott Martin (Ann Arbor, Mich.) from second base. The Warriors have outscored their opponents 22-15 in the first inning this year.

Mercyhurst scored one run in the third and two more in the fifth before WSU senior Adwin Springer (Toronto, Ont.) hit a solo homer to left to make it a one-run game.

Starter Mat Yenrick (Toledo, Ohio) sat down six of the first seven batters he faced. But the senior took the loss (0-2) in 4.2 innings of work. He gave up three earned runs on five hits.

Wayne State travels to Central Michigan on Tuesday for a non-conference contest (Gametracker).
