DETROIT - Seventh-ranked Ashland (25-5, 7-2 GLIAC) scored four unanswered runs to come from behind in a 4-2 win over Wayne State (7-20, 5-4 GLIAC) in game one of Wednesday's GLIAC baseball doubleheader.

Senior lead-off man Jason Chapieski (Windsor, Ont.) roped a single to center to start WSU's offense. Following a sac bunt, junior DH Tim George (Quincy, Mich.) did his job with a blooper to right that scored Chapieski.

The Warriors added to their lead in the fourth as senior Adwin Springer (Toronto, Ont.) scored on catcher Matt Cunningham's (Gregory, Mich.) base hit right over second base.

Junior starter Dan Barnes (Grand Ledge, Mich.) rolled through the first four innings, facing just 13 batters. He then got out of a bases-load jam in the fifth with some help from third baseman Kevin Kadrofske (Roseville, Mich.) who reached over the fence to catch a foul ball.

The Eagles shut down Wayne State for the final four innings of the game and tied the game with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning. AU then took its first lead of the game with two more runs in the seventh for the win.

Springer, Kadrofske and Cunningham each had two hits for WSU who totaled 10 compared to just six for the Eagles.

Barnes took the loss (1-2) in 6.0 innings of work before Jon Swartout (Allen Park, Mich.) came in relief.
