DETROIT - The Warriors (15-28, 13-11 GLIAC) were one out away from defeating 10th-ranked Grand Valley State, but the Lakers (33-8, 17-3 GLIAC) scored four runs in the top of the seventh to steal a 5-4 come-from-behind victory in the second game of Saturday's GLIAC doubleheader.

After a scoreless first, senior Adwin Springer (Toronto, Ont.) tripled over the centerfielder's head to lead off the second. Springer then scored on Scott Martin's (Ann Arbor, Mich.) RBI for a 1-0 advantage.

The Warriors strung together four straight two-out hits in the third, including three doubles in a row, to grab a 4-0 lead. Sophomore Kyle Miller (Farmington Hills, Mich.) started the two-out rally with a single just inside the third base line. Miller scored on Derek Ranck's (Clarkston, Mich.) double to left center. Ranck came home on Jon Weisman's (Woodhaven, Mich.) two-bagger to center. WSU's final run came when Springer doubled down the left field line and slid into second safely after Weisman scored.

On the mound, freshman starter Anthony Bass (Trenton, Mich.) had a solid performance. He struck out four straight batters over two innings, including one to get out of a bases loaded situation in the fifth. Bass gave up five runs (four earned) on nine hits, while striking out five and walking two batters in 6.2 innings.

Bass retired the first two batters in the top of the seventh before giving up a double and two-run homer. Two hits later, Jon Swartout (Allen Park, Mich.) relieved Bass who threw 122 pitches. The Lakers scored another run before Dane Little (Windsor, Ont.) came in and suffered the loss (1-5).

Springer was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a triple, and RBI and a run scored. Ranck, Weisman and Martin accounted for WSU's other RBI.

WSU and Grand Valley return to the field Sunday for a noon doubleheader.
