UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Senior lefty Mat Yenrick (Toledo, Ohio) retired the last 14 batters and threw a complete-game three-hitter as Wayne State shutout Saginaw Valley State, 6-0, in the second game of Wednesday's league doubleheader.

Junior Tim George (Quincy, Mich.) singled through the left side in the top of the third. Following Jason Chapieski's (Windsor, Ont.) bloop single over second base, George gave WSU a 1-0 lead as he scored on a balk, the second run on a balk of the day.

The Warriors (16-30, 14-13 GLIAC) scored four runs in the fourth as third baseman Kevin Kadrofske (Roseville, Mich.) led the fourth off with a base hit. Matt Cunningham (Gregory, Mich.) reached on a error, then Bob Schmidt (Oxford, Mich.) hit a double of the right fielder's head to score two. Junior Chris Baroli (Madison Hts., Mich.) laid down a perfect bunt single on a squeeze play that scored Schmidt from third. George added his second run of the day on a throwing error.

Tim George scored three times in game two.

WSU's offense sparked the defense as it stepped up in the bottom of the inning. Chapieski (shortstop), Baroli (second base) and Derek Ranck (Clarkston, Mich.) all recorded line outs, including a diving grab by Ranck on the right field line.

George, who went 3-for-3, scored his third run of the day in the sixth inning to make it 6-0. George doubled to right center and scored when Chapieski recorded his second hit of the day on a single right over first base.

Yenrick struck out three SVSU (18-20, 8-17 GLIAC) batters and didn't walk anyone to improve to 2-3 on the year.

Wayne State returns to Detroit for its final home games of the season as the Warriors host Northwood Saturday and Sunday.
