UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Wayne State baseball team (25-22, 13-13 GLIAC) was dealt another shutout loss at Saginaw Valley State (29-10, 17-7 GLIAC) on Wednesday, dropping a 3-0 decision in the second game of a doubleheader at SVSU Field.

A pair of costly errors contributed to two unearned runs for the Cardinals against WSU starter Kyle Hill (Mississauga, Ont./St. Michael's), who took the loss (5-4) despite giving up just five hits in six innings. The setback notwithstanding, Wednesday marked Hill's 44th career start, matching Wayne State's all-time record.

Scott Roy, the GLIAC's leader in strikeouts, added six to his tally for 83 on the season. He surrendered three hits and did not walk a batter to improve his record to 7-1 on the year.

Saginaw Valley State took a 1-0 lead in the second, as an RBI single by Kevin Schwedler plated Tom Seehafer, who reached on a WSU fielding error.

The Cardinals scratched across two more runs in the fifth on three hits, including back-to-back squeeze bunts, and another Warrior error.

A double by Brett Witczak (Hudsonville, Mich.) in the first inning and base hits by Derek Ranck (Clarkston, Mich.) in the third and Tony Hines (Detroit, Mich./Mumford) in the sixth was all of the offense Wayne State could muster against Roy.

The Warriors will look to keep their playoff hopes alive this weekend as they host the Gannon Golden Knights for a pair of doubleheaders. Saturday's series at Flat Rock will start at 5:00 p.m., while the Warriors will celebrate Senior Day in Detroit on Sunday beginning at noon.
