ALLENDALE, Mich. - Four Wayne State University baseball players were named to the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams, released Friday morning. Three of the four earned all-league for the second time in their career.

Senior Jason Chapieski (Windsor, Ont.) was selected as First Team All-GLIAC for the second straight season. The shortstop led WSU with a .353 batting average, 60 hits, 16 stolen bases and 124 assists. Chapieski tied for the team lead with 16 multi-hit games as he hit safely in 24 of the last 26 games.

Redshirt junior Jon Weisman (Woodhaven, Mich.) earned Second Team All-GLIAC honors as a utility player. The first baseman/DH hit nine home runs this season and is tied atop the WSU career list with 25 homers in just three seasons. He was first on the team in slugging percentage (.580), doubles (15), RBI (40) and total bases (98), while also having 16-multi hit games and 11 multi-RBI contests. Last year, Weisman earned first team honors.

Also on the second team was right-handed pitcher Dan Barnes (Grand Ledge, Mich.) who had four wins and a save for the Warriors in 2006. The junior recorded an ERA of 3.30 with 39 strikeouts and WSU's only shutout of the season against #5 Ashland. Barnes was an honorable mention selection last season.

Making his first appearance on the all-conference team is Derek Ranck (Clarkston, Mich.) who was selected Honorable Mention All-GLIAC. The redshirt sophomore hit .328 on the year and committed just one error in the outfield. Ranck's 10-game hitting streak was the second-longest on the team.
