The Wayne State University baseball team had 11 student-athletes selected to the GLIAC All-Academic Team, the second most in the league for the third consecutive year.

Among the Warriors selected were redshirt seniors Jon Weisman (Woodhaven, Mich.) and Bob Schmidt (Oxford, Mich.); seniors Dan Barnes (Grand Ledge, Mich.), Andy Claerr (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams), and Kyle Hill (Mississauga, Ont./St. Michael's); redshirt juniors Matt Cunningham (Gregory, Mich./Chelsea) and Derek Ranck (Clarkston, Mich.); redshirt sophomore Scott Martin (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer); sophomore Dane Little (Windsor, Ont./F.J. Brennan Catholic); and redshirt freshmen Justin Mazur (Macomb, Mich./De La Salle) and John Skaggs (Adrian, Mich.).

Weisman is a four-time honoree, while Barnes, Claerr, Cunningham and Hill were honored for the third time. Schmidt and Ranck each earned their second academic award, with Martin, Little, Mazur, and Skaggs earning academic accolades in their first year of eligibility for consideration.

To qualify for GLIAC All-Academic status a student athlete must have: a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or greater (on a 4.0 scale); must be a starter or key reserve; and must not be a freshman or first-year transfer.
