Wayne State University pitcher Anthony Bass (Trenton, Mich.) has compiled a 2-1 record with a 2.10 earned-run average in five starts with the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox of the Horizon Air Summer Series.

Bass has two combined shutouts, including one last night in which he allowed just one hit and no runs over seven innings with nine strikeouts as the Gold Sox beat the Sacramento Legends.

He has allowed 18 hits in 30 innings with opponents batting just. 175 against him. Bass has recorded 31 strikeouts to 10 walks for the 9-8 Gold Sox.

WSU outfielder Tony Hines (Detroit, Mich./Mumford) is also on the Gold Sox and is tied for the team lead in walks (8), while ranking third with four stolen bases.

The Horizon Air Summer Series is a unique eleven week competition among elite teams from the Western United States comprised of today's best college baseball players.
