Baseball Hosts Successful Two-Day Camp

Head coach Jay Alexander and the Wayne State baseball team hosted a successful two-day camp on the WSU athletic campus July 20-21.

Over 80 participants received instruction from Alexander and the Warriors, as well as several experienced high school coaches.

Instructors included Tony DeMaire (Divine Child), Chris Weaver (Brighton), Johnny Kastrewba (Northville), Paul Piesz (Southgate Anderson), Leon McKissic (Renaissance), and Ray Williams (Pershing), as well as Aaron Knieper (Asst. Director, WSU Fitness Center) former major league pitcher Steve Avery, and former Warrior standout Frank Jeney.

Detroit Tigers Justin Verlander, Brandon Inge, and Gary Sheffield also made appearances for a Q&A session with the kids.

Wayne State Baseball would like to especially thank Jeff Jones, Detroit Tigers bullpen coach, for his assistance in putting on this camp.
