Lorenzo Neely rejoined the Wayne State staff in the fall of 2005 after spending the 2003-04 campaign at California-Berkeley. The 2009-10 season will be Neely's sixth season on the Warrior coaching staff.

He was with WSU during the 2002-03 season after spending two seasons (2000-02) at Western Michigan and two years (1998-2000) at Michigan.

The Detroit Northern graduate served in a similar position at his alma mater, Eastern Michigan, from 1996-1998. Neely was a four-year letterwinner for the Hurons from 1988-91. He was the Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year in 1987-88, helping EMU to its first MAC Championship and NCAA Tournament berth. As a senior, he was named to the All-MAC First Team and led the Eagles to their only NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearance in school history.

Following graduation, Neely participated in free agent camps with the Portland Trail Blazers and the Detroit Pistons. He earned his bachelor's degree in communications from EMU and is currently working towards a master's degree in the same field.

Neely and his wife, Tina, have one daughter, Raven, and one son, Lincoln.
