MIDLAND, Mich. - The Wayne State men's basketball team (11-6, 6-2 GLIAC) overcame a 12-0 deficit to defeat Northwood (7-8, 3-5 GLIAC), 73-62, at the Bennett Sports Center as the Warriors remain undefeated (6-0) against GLIAC North Division teams.

WSU missed its first seven shots of the game and had six turnovers early as the Warriors trailed 12-0 with the opening 8:14. Wayne State finally got on the board as Darrell Evans (Detroit, Mich.) found center Erik Parker (Oak Park, Mich.) for a three-point play. Junior Ethan Banks (Warren, Ohio) then connected on a back-to-back three- pointers for a 9-0 Warrior run.

The T'Wolves increased their lead back up to six, but WSU scored five in a row, but NU's D.J. Hughes nailed a three- pointer for a 22-18 lead. Evans dished off to a driving Herb Goliday (Royal Oak Twp., Mich.) who completed another three-point play.

Senior Morris Hall's (Detroit, Mich.) set of foul shots with 3:11 on the clock gave the Warriors their first lead of the day, 23-22. He made two more and freshman Rob Igbawua (Belleville, Mich.) got the lucky bounce on a pair of foul shots.

Hall then stroked a 12-foot jumper for a seven-point Warrior lead, completing a 29-10 run since WSU started out scoreless in the first 12 minutes of the game. Hughes made a three in the closing seconds of the half to make the score WSU 29, Northwood 25.

The Timberwolves came out of the locker room and tied the game at 29, but Banks answered right back with a three and Evans put up a floater for a 34-29 lead. Hall then scored five straight, giving the Warriors a 10-point advantage.

Goliday scored six of WSU's next nine points as the Warriors continued to hold onto their lead. Wayne State's largest lead (12 points) of the contest came on Banks' fourth three- pointer from the top of the key with 9:38 left.

The Timberwolves clawed back within seven with 1:28 on the clock, but the Warriors made 10-of-12 from the line to finish the game.

Goliday and Hall each scored 18 points to pace the Warriors as Banks added 16. Evans tied his career-high with 12 assists, one shy of the school record.

Wayne State stays on the road with a GLIAC South contest at Ashland on Thursday, Jan. 27.
