DETROIT - Wayne State (7-10, 2-7 GLIAC) dropped its fourth straight conference game with a 65-55 loss to No. 21-Grand Valley State (16-3, 8-2 GLIAC) in GLIAC men's basketball action Thursday night at the Matthaei.

Junior guard Kris Krzyminski (Flint, Mich.) scored six of Wayne State's first eight points as the Warriors held an early 8-7 lead. The teams remained close as there were five ties four and four lead changes in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Grand Valley went on a 22-4 run over a span of 5:34 as it made seven three-pointers during the stretch. Krzyminski hit a three of his own and converted on a three-point play in the last minute of action, but the Lakers went into the locker room up 35-23.

Senior Ethan Banks (Warren, Ohio) knocked down a deep trey to start the second half, but GVSU answered with four points in a row for a 13-point lead. Moments later, the Warriors cut it to a 44-35 deficit as Krzyminski and junior center Jeffrey Ferguson (Toronto, Ont.) scored on consecutive three-point plays with 13:55 left in the game.

Jacob Black's (Detroit, Mich.) block from behind ignited the crowd and a Herb Goliday (Royal Oak Twp., Mich.) put-back brought the Warriors within six at 50-44 with 7:55 remaining.

The Lakers scored seven of the next 10 points to increase their lead to 57-47, but wouldn't make another basket the rest of the game. WSU climbed within seven as Will Pierce (Detroit, Mich.) knocked down a three-pointer with 2:33 on the clock. After free throws by both teams, Ferguson's three with 28.3 seconds left brought WSU within six (61-55), but GVSU held on by making its last four free throws.

Krzyminski had a game-high 19 points while Goliday scored in double digits for the 16th time this season with 10 points.

WSU hosts Lake Superior State Saturday at 3 p.m.
