DETROIT - Wayne State lost its third overtime game of the season as Hillsdale College defeated WSU, 58-55, on Valentine's Day. The Warriors remain in fourth place in the GLIAC South Division with a 13-9 overall record and 8-5 in the league. HC moved to 12-11, 5-8.

Morris Hall's (Detroit, Mich./Mott C.C.) falling down three-pointer broke an 11-11 tie at the 14:32 mark. The Warriors continued to build their lead with another three, this one by senior Kendall LeSure (Detroit, Mich./Pershing) to put WSU up 21-15. Wayne State shut Hillsdale down for the final 5:24 and finished the first half on a 7-0 run to lead 28-23.

The second half was one of runs by both teams. WSU went up by seven with 9:13 left on the clock as Hall hit a jumper from an Oscar Sanders (River Rouge, Mich./Danville Area C.C.) assist. But HC scored 10 in a row and proceeded to go up by seven, 51-44, with under four minutes remaining in regulation.

Hall took charge and scored WSU's next six points and LeSure's layup tied the game at 52 with 1:21 left to send the game into overtime.

WSU was just 1-of-7 from the floor in the overtime period and Hillsdale's John Hamood hit his only three of the game with 40 seconds left to give the Chargers their second win over Wayne State this season.

Hall finished with a game-high 18 points, one shy of his career-high. WSU received double-double performances from senior post players Kendon Edwards (Waukegan, Ill/Owens C.C.) - 11 points, 12 rebounds - and Joel Simpson (Detroit, Mich./E. New Mexico) - 10 points, 10 rebounds.

The Warriors out-rebounded Hillsdale, 50-38, but missed 50 of their 69 shots (27.5 percent). WSU will travel to Findlay to face the Oilers on Monday at 7:00 p.m.
