CLARION/NORTHWOOD GAME STORYLINES

After an 11-day layoff for the holidays, the Wayne State University men's basketball team begins 2007 with its final non-conference game of the season on Jan. 3 at Clarion.

The Warriors commence the 2007 portion of their league schedule at Northwood on Saturday.

ON THE BENCH

Wayne State's David Greer is in his sixth season at the helm of the Warrior basketball program with an 83-69 mark. His overall seven-year coaching mark stands at 100-81, which includes one season at Tiffin (1986-87).

Ron Righter has compiled a 304-188 mark in his 19th season at Clarion.

Northwood's Bob Taylor has a 129-127 mark in his 10th season with the Timberwolves. His overall 21-year mark is 431-181.

THROUGHOUT THE YEARS

The Warriors defeated Clarion 72-59 earlier this year in the first meeting between the schools.

WSU is 4-1 under David Greer versus Northwood including a 2-0 mark in Midland.

IN THE POLLS

The Warriors were selected to finish fourth in the GLIAC South Division in the preseason coaches poll. Northwood was tabbed for seventh in the GLIAC North Division.
