GRAND VALLEY/LAKE SUPERIOR GAME STORYLINES
The Wayne State University men's basketball team will play four of its next six games away from Detroit starting this Thursday at Grand Valley. WSU plays at Lake Superior on Saturday before returning home to face Findlay.
The Warriors contest on Thursday at GVSU will be televised live by Comcast Local. WSU split at home last week defeating Michigan Tech but falling to Northern Michigan.
WSU is fourth in the GLIAC South Division one game behind Ashland.
ON THE BENCH
Wayne State's David Greer is in his sixth season at the helm of the Warrior basketball program with an 86-72 mark. His overall seven-year coaching mark stands at 103-84, which includes one season at Tiffin (1986-87).
Ric Wesley has compiled a 60-16 mark in his third season at GVSU.
LSSU's Mike Fitzner has a 31-69 record in his fourth year in the Soo.
THROUGHOUT THE YEARS
Wayne State had its two-game winning streak vs. Grand Valley snapped last year. Coach Greer is 3-3 all-time against the Lakers.
The Warriors have defeated Lake Superior in each of Coach Greer's five seasons including twice at the Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
SERIES NOTES
David Greer has a 3-3 all-time mark versus Grand Valley, including a 3-2 GLIAC record.
The Warriors are 1-2 in Allendale under Greer, 1-1 in GLIAC games.
GVSU won 65-55 in Detroit last year on Jan. 26, 2006 despite 19 points by Kris Krzyminski.
The Lakers lead the all-time series vs. WSU 39-24.
