FINDLAY/ASHLAND GAME STORYLINES

The Wayne State University men's basketball team will try to avenge two losses earlier this season in Ohio when the fifth-ranked Findlay Oilers and Ashland Eagles invade the Matthaei on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.

The Warriors split last weekend's road contests falling at Grand Valley before rebounding for a win at Lake Superior.

Four teams are battling for two automatic spots in the GLIAC South Division (Findlay has secured one of the three automatic spots). WSU is a game behind Mercyhurst, tied with Ashland and a game ahead of Hillsdale.

ON THE BENCH

Wayne State's David Greer is in his sixth season at the helm of the Warrior basketball program with an 87-73 mark. His overall seven-year coaching mark stands at 104-85, which includes one season at Tiffin (1986-87).

Findlay's Ron Niekamp has a 475-168 mark in his 22nd year with the Oilers. AU's Roger Lyons is 222-158 in his 14th season with the Eagles.

THROUGHOUT THE YEARS

Wayne State has lost five straight to Findlay since a Feb. 14, 2005, win. WSU had its two game winning streak versus Ashland end earlier this season.

SERIES NOTES

David Greer has a 3-10 all-time mark versus Findlay.

The Warriors have lost five straight against UF since a 79-72 win at the Matthaei on Feb. 14, 2005.

Findlay won 68-52 last month behind 22 points from Tyler Evans, who made six of eight triples.

The Oilers lead the all-time series vs. WSU 14-13.

WSU is 3-2 at home versus AU under Greer.

Wayne State leads the all-time series 20-16 vs. the Eagles.

The Warriors were selected to finish fourth in the GLIAC South Division in the preseason coaches poll. Findlay was tabbed for first in the GLIAC South Division, while Ashland was picked for second.
