FERRIS STATE/SAGINAW VALLEY GAME STORYLINES

The Wayne State University men's basketball team has split its GLIAC weekend series each of the last four weeks.

The Warriors play host to Ferris State (Thursday) and Saginaw Valley (Saturday). The FSU contest will be televised live by Comcast Detroit, while Saturday is Senior Day for Joe Carr, Kris Krzyminski and Will Pierce.

Wayne State is among four schools battling for two automatic spots in the GLIAC South Division. WSU is a game behind Mercyhurst, tied with Ashland and two games ahead of Hillsdale.

ON THE BENCH

Wayne State's David Greer is in his sixth season at the helm of the Warrior basketball program with an 89-75 mark. His overall seven-year coaching mark stands at 105-86, which includes one season at Tiffin (1986-87).

Bill Sall has an 81-72 mark in his fifth season at Ferris. SVSU's Jamie Matthews has a 27-48 record in his third year.

THROUGHOUT THE YEARS

Ferris State outscored WSU by five points in the second half snapping an intermission tie for the win in Big Rapids last year. The Cardinals had a home court win outscoring WSU by 11 points in the second half last season.

SERIES NOTES

David Greer has a 5-1 all-time mark versus Ferris State, including a 4-1 record in GLIAC regular-season contests.

The Warriors are 2-0 at home vs. the Bulldogs under Greer.

The FSU win last year ended a nine-game WSU win streak.

The previous Bulldog victory came during the 1996-97 season.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

David Greer has compiled a 5-3 record against Saginaw Valley, including a 2-3 GLIAC regular-season mark.

WSU is 1-1 at home versus the Cardinals under Greer.

Wayne State had won three of the previous four meetings before last year's four-point setback at SVSU.

The Cardinals lead in the all-time series 29-27.

IN THE POLLS

The Warriors were selected to finish fourth in the GLIAC South Division in the preseason coaches poll. Ferris State was tabbed for second in the GLIAC North Division, while Saginaw Valley was picked for fifth.

THIS AND THAT

Fans can follow all Wayne State home basketball games online via GameTracker (through wsuathletics.com) and all men's basketball games (home and away) with audio from wdtkam.com.

Kris Krzyminski needs 117 points for 1,000 in his WSU career.

Krzyminski needs two three-point field goals made to tie the WSU single-season record of 77 set by Charles LeSure during the 1999-00 campaign.

Krzyminski's 24.09 scoring average is currently the third-best single-season mark in school history (Bob Solomon - 25.96 in 1972-73 and Michael Aaron - 25.72 in 1993-94) are the top two season scoring averages in WSU history).

Krzyminski's 50.0 percent shooting from beyond the arc is on pace to break the WSU single-season mark of 45.7 set by Ethan Banks (2004-05/59-129) of those with at least 125 attempts in a season.

Krzyminski's 84.8 percent shooting from the foul line is currently fifth-best single-season mark in WSU history (of those with at least 65 attempts in a season). The school record is 88.4 percent by Mark Herron (1992-93/61-69).
