Two Men's Basketball Players Earn GLIAC Honors

Two Wayne State University men's basketball players received Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference accolades announced Thursday night at the conference tournament banquet.

Senior guard Kris Krzyminski (Flint, Mich./Central) was voted to the GLIAC South Division First Team while junior forward Jason Saddler (Detroit, Mich./Cody/Mott C.C.) was named to the GLIAC South Division All-Defensive Team as selected by the GLIAC head coaches.

Krzyminski, a Second Team GLIAC South Division selection a year ago, led the league minutes played for the second straight season and was the GLIAC leader in scoring (25.2 points per game) and three-point field goal percentage (.491). He ranked 12th in the league in field goal percentage (.521) but had the most made field goals of anyone listed in the top 15. Kris was second in the league in three-point field goals made (56), sixth in assists (3.47 per game) and eighth in both free throw percentage (.833) and steals (1.53).

Saddler was second with 64 offensive rebounds, fourth in total rebounding at 7.4, ninth in field goal percentage (.553) and 15th in minutes played.

Senior forward Ricky Volcy of Northern Michigan was selected as the Player of the Year. Rookie guard Marcus Parker from Findlay was chosen as Freshman of the Year, while Coach of the Year honors went to Findlay's Ron Niekamp.
