Wayne State University senior center Shane Lawal (Southfield, Mich./Lathrup) has been selected GLIAC South Division Player of the Week after recording the first triple-double in school history in last Thursday's win over Michigan Tech.
Lawal had 19 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocked shots, along with two steals. In Saturday's one-point setback to NMU, Lawal contributed 19 points, five rebounds and six blocked shots.
For the week he shot 64 percent (16-25) from the field and scored 38 points while grabbing 16 rebounds and blocking 16 shots. He also had two assists and two steals.
Wayne State plays its final non-GLIAC game of the season tonight at Eastern Michigan. The Warriors play their final home game of 2008 on Thursday against Northwood. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. following the women's game against the Timberwolves.
