SOUTHERN INDIANA/INDIANAPOLIS GAME STORYLINES

The Wayne State University men's basketball team will conclude its seven-game home stand by hosting the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge on Dec. 20-21. The Warriors play Southern Indiana on Wednesday and Indianapolis on Thursday in the 7:30 p.m. games. Ferris State will face UI and USI in the 5:30 p.m. game each day.

The Warriors have won four of their last five contests, all at home. The Screaming Eagles had won their first nine outings until UI's Justin Barnard sank two free throws with :01 on the clock last Saturday. The Greyhounds are 3-2 overall after their 56-55 win over USI.

ON THE BENCH

Wayne State's David Greer is in his sixth season at the helm of the Warrior basketball program with an 82-68 mark. His overall seven-year coaching mark stands at 99-80, which includes one season at Tiffin (1986-87).

Southern Indiana's Rick Herdes has a 138-35 record in his sixth year as a collegiate head coach.

Todd Sturgeon has compiled a 140-115 mark in his 10th season at Indy.

THROUGHOUT THE YEARS

Southern Indiana has won all five meetings with the first two coming in the NCAA Regional Finals in 1994 and 2004. The Warriors have defeated Indianapolis in the first two years of this four-year rotating tournament.

IN THE POLLS

The Warriors were selected fourth in the GLIAC South Division in the preseason coaches poll. Southern Indiana was picked to win the GLVC West Division, while Indianapolis was tabbed for sixth in the GLVC East Division.

David Greer has a 0-4 all-time mark versus Southern Indiana.
This will be USI's first trip to Detroit.
