New York, N.Y. - The Wayne State University men's fencing team compiled an 0-4 record last Sunday at the New York University Duals.
The Warriors began the day with a 22-5 setback to St. John's. In the epee Slava Zingerman went 2-1 as did Bobby Smith in the sabre.
In the second round, WSU fell to NYU 17-10. A highlight for WSU was that Marek Petraszek, Steve Znoy and Zingerman each went 3-0 in the epee, while Smith had the lone sabre triumph.
After a bye in round three, Wayne State suffered a 16-11 loss to Yale. Both Petraszek and Zingerman went 3-0 in the epee, while Smith had a 3-0 mark in sabre.
In the final round, the Warriors lost 21-6 to Columbia. Petraszek went 3-0 while Zingerman had a 2-1 record. WSU's other triumph was by Smith in the Sabre.
