Notre Dame, Ind. - Four members of the Wayne State University men's fencing squad participated in the 2007 NCAA Midwest Regional on Saturday at the University of Notre Dame.
Senior Marek Petraszek claimed the epee title with a victory over Ohio State's Mykhaylo Mazur. Freshman Slava Zingerman was eighth while senior Steve Znoy placed 16th.
In men's sabre, senior Bobby Smith was ninth.
WSU did not have anyone qualify in the foil.
The NCAA will announce the list of those qualifying for the NCAA Championships later this week.
