The Wayne State University men's and women's fencing teams will host the 2006 Istvan Danosi/Michigan Open this Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Matthaei starting at 8:30 a.m.
Six individual titles will be contested -- men's epee, men's sabre, men's foil, women's epee, women's sabre and women's foil -- during the day-long competition.
Returning to defend their Open titles are WSU seniors Marek Petraszek and Bobby Smith in the epee and sabre, respectively. Detroit's Craig Budzynski won the men's foil title in 2005.
All three individual winners from the ladies competition a year ago will be back to defend their titles including Kasia Kuzniak (sabre), Lindsey Howard (foil) and Anna Garina (epee).
Individuals from WSU, Detroit, Michigan and Michigan State are scheduled to compete.
