COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. - In the Fall Classic held at Fifth Third Ballpark on Saturday night, the Wayne State football team (1-4, 0-4 GLIAC) was defeated, 41-10, by top-ranked Grand Valley State (4-0, 3-0 GLIAC) marking the Warriors 21st consecutive loss at the hands of the Lakers, who have won 32 straight games overall dating back to 2004.

Joique Bell (Benton Harbor, Mich.) rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries, totaling just 16 fewer yards than the entire GVSU tailback corps. He also caught a pair of passes for 26 yards, second on the team only to Travis Campbell (Gahanna, Ohio/Westerville North), who amassed 31 yards on two receptions.

Bell's 19-yard touchdown run capped off a five-play, 87-yard drive that tied the score at 7-7 with 17 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Following a four-yard touchdown run by GVSU quarterback Brad Iciek early in the second stanza, Anthony Morasso (Detroit, Mich./Harper Woods Notre Dame) kicked his first career field goal in as many attempts to finish off a 10-play drive and keep the Warriors within four points.

Grand Valley State began to pull away, however, getting into the end zone twice before halftime and once more in each subsequent quarter.

Iciek accounted for five of the Lakers' six touchdowns on the evening. He was 25-for-40 for 403 yards and four scores passing, while compiling 39 rushing yards on six carries.

WSU quarterback Trent Pohl (Lansing, Mich./Grand Ledge) completed nine passes on 22 attempts for 121 yards.

Brandon Cooper (Detroit, Mich./St. Martin de Porres) had two interceptions in the third quarter on back-to-back Grand Valley drives.

With his 177 all-purpose yards, Bell moved into fifth place all-time at WSU, passing Pierre Brown (1998-2001).

Wayne State will host Gannon on Homecoming Saturday next week for a noon kickoff at Adams Field.
