Two members of the 2008 Wayne State University football team have been selected to the All-Super Region Three Team selected by the Don Hansen's Football Gazette.
Senior safety Dante Dunn (Lansing, Mich.) was a First Team All-Region selection. Dunn, who will participate in this Friday's Cactus Bowl, was the GLIAC Defensive Back of the Year (which includes linebackers) and First Team All-GLIAC at both safety and return specialist. He led all WSU defensive backs and finished 17th in the GLIAC with 82 tackles. He was fourth in the GLIAC in passes defended with 12 (3 interceptions and 9 break-ups).
Senior cornerback Cornelius Dillard (Detroit, Mich./St. Martin de Porres) was a Second Team All-Region honoree. Dillard was voted First Team All-GLIAC after he led the GLIAC in passes defended with 14 while his four interceptions were tied for fifth in the conference. His 10 pass break-ups led the GLIAC. As a team, WSU had 16 interceptions and only allowed 11 passing touchdowns. The Warriors had two shutouts and held two other teams to just seven points during the 2008 campaign.
This marks the seventh year Football Gazette has selected Division II all-region teams. The national publication, an authority on small college football, has selected Division II All-America teams since 1998.
The first-team and second-team All-Region selections advance to a national ballot from which the 2008 Division II Football Gazette All-America team will be named.
