In Street & Smith's 2006 college football yearbook, the Wayne State Warriors were tabbed as one of the "Best of the Rest" after the top 25.
Three of the top 25 were from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), considered by many to be the best Division II football conference in the nation.
With four teams including the Warriors mentioned in the "Best of the Rest" section, the 2006 GLIAC season should be another exciting campaign.
GLIAC schools ranked by Street & Smith's publication include Grand Valley (No. 1), Saginaw Valley (No. 4), Ashland (No. 17), Wayne State, Ferris State, Gannon and Northwood.
Grand Valley (Sept. 30) and Ashland (Nov. 4) both visit Adams Field this year, while WSU travels to Gannon (Oct. 7), Northwood (Oct. 28) and Ferris State (Nov. 11).
Wayne State begins the 2006 season at Michigan Tech (Sept. 2) before facing Saint Joseph's in the home opener on Sept. 9.
