The 2009 Wayne State University football squad is ranked 22nd this week by the American Football Coaches Association.

Only once before (Nov. 2, 2008) has the Warrior football team been ranked in the top 25 by the AFCA. Last year's 25th-place ranking prior to the Grand Valley game was the first national ranking (top 25) in any national poll since the 1976 campaign.

This Saturday, WSU hosts Ashland University for a noon kickoff at Adams Field/WSU Stadium. The Eagles have made back-to-back post-season NCAA tournament appearances but have a 3-2 record this year with losses to No. 4 Bloomsburg and No. 24 Hillsdale.
