INDIANAPOLIS GAME STORYLINES

Wayne State looks to snap a five-game conference road losing streak, since last year's 30-3 win at Gannon on Oct. 7, this Saturday as the Warriors visit Indianapolis.

WSU head coach Paul Winters has a 1-0 mark all-time at Key Stadium after earning his first collegiate victory against the Greyhounds, 24-21 in overtime, on Sept. 25, 2004.

The Warriors suffered a 35-21 setback at Hillsdale last Saturday marking the third time in five losses this year that WSU led in the fourth quarter.

Wayne State twice took one-point leads in the second half on a one-yard touchdown run by Joique Bell and then a John Rehberg seven-yard reception from Trent Pohl but was able to only muster 52 yards of total offense in the final stanza, while Hillsdale had two touchdown drives.

Bell tied one school career mark (rushing touchdowns - 37 set by Ed Skowneski, 1972-75) and set two other records (career points - 240; and touchdowns scored - 40). He also moved past Elbert Richmond (1950-52) into fourth place in career all-purpose yards with 3,738 in only 18 contests.

In addition, Bell went over the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season and 3,000-yard mark for his career.

He also contributed in the passing game hauling in a team-high five catches for a team-best 72 yards. The 207 all-purpose yards moved Bell within 17 yards of Craig Duppong's mark (3,755) and third place on the WSU all-time list.

WSU's last points of the opening half came on a career-best tying 36-yard field goal by sophomore Anthony Morasso.

Both teams had over 400 yards of total offense by different methods. WSU rushed for 273 and passed for 131 (404 total), while Hillsdale rushed for 155 and passed for 312 (467 total).

The Wayne State defense had six tackles for loss including four sacks (2.5 by Andrew Bates).

After this Saturday's game at Indianapolis (Oct. 20) which concludes WSU's second set of back-to-back road weekends this season, the Warriors have a home game versus Northwood (Oct. 27). Wayne State will play two games in November - Nov. 3 at Ashland and the regular season finale Nov. 10 against Ferris State.

IN THE POLLS

Wayne State was selected for fifth in the 2007 GLIAC pre-season coaches' poll, while Indianapolis was tabbed for seventh.

ON THE HEADSET

Wayne State's Paul Winters has a 12-26 mark in his fourth year with the Warriors. WSU is 11-12 its last 23 games.

The Warriors are 5-15 on the road under Winters and have an 1-0 mark at Indianapolis.

Greyhound head coach Joe Polizzi has an overall mark of 74-73-1 in his 14th year.

ALL-TIME SERIES

Indianapolis leads 11-5 in the all-time series which began in 1973. WSU is 4-4 at Indianapolis with 24-21 victories in the last two contests at Key Stadium.

SCOUTING INDIANAPOLIS

The Greyhounds had their four-game winning streak end at Grand Valley last Saturday.

Senior quarterback Casey Gillin has completed 131-of-202 for 1,448 yards and 14 touchdowns with only five interceptions. Eric Wright is the leading rusher with 660 yards and six touchdowns. Six different receivers have double-digit reception totals.

Kevin Shaw leads the defense with 50 tackles.

STRICTLY BY THE NUMBERS

WSU's first scoring drive was a school-record tying 99 yard drive on 11 plays. It was WSU's third touchdown drive of at least 90 yards this season.

Senior wide receiver Chris Alsina extended his reception streak to 12 games with three catches for 25 yards.

Senior place-kicker David Chudzinski needs one extra point made to equal the school mark of 67 by Matt Fishburn (1994-97).

Junior Dante Dunn has 38 career kickoff returns to rank eighth all-time at WSU, just one behind Jerriel Burrus (2003-06) mark and two behind Dick Byas' (1971-73) total. Dunn's 990 kickoff return yards ranks fourth and he needs 10 yards to pass Chad Fietsam (1984-87) for third place.

Senior linebacker Alan Guy moved into 10th place all-time with 276 tackles after recording 14 last Saturday at Hillsdale. He needs two stops to tie Ken Johnson (1993-96) for ninth place. Guy also tied Eric Ruth (1990-93) for 10th place in career tackles for loss with 32. He needs 1 1/2 to equal Mohamad Bazzi's (2001-03) mark for ninth place.
