The Wayne State University football team is ranked ninth in the Northwest Region this week according to the NCAA Division II Football Committee.
The Warriors are 6-4 overall but have played one of the toughest schedules in the region with losses to No. 1 Grand Valley and No. 5 Northwood. WSU has a win over No. 10 Michigan Tech and plays at No. 7 Ferris State this Saturday to conclude the regular season.
The top six teams in the region qualify for post-season play, however, if the top team from a league is ranked in the top 10 regionally but not in the top six, that school will be placed in the sixth spot according to "earned access."
