Five Wayne State University football players appear in this week's national stats released by the NCAA.
Redshirt freshman running back Joique Bell (Benton Harbor, Mich.) is second nationally in all-purpose yards per game at 215.7, while ranking third in the country in both rushing yards per game at 181.3 yards per game and scoring at 12.6 points per game. Bell accumulated 218 all-purpose yards in last Saturday's win over Ashland with 150 rushing yards, 21 receiving yards and 47 yards on one kickoff return. He also scored two rushing touchdowns for a 12-point contest.
Junior place-kicker David Chudzinski (Belleville, Mich.) is fifth in field goals made per game (1.3). Chudzinski made both field goal attempts and for the season he is 13-of-15 including 10-of-11 from inside 40 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, senior cornerback Derrion Fuqua (Detroit, Mich./Henry Ford) is 26th in solo tackles (4.9) per game. Fuqua made three solo tackles plus had a pass break-up versus the Eagles.
Sophomore Dante Dunn (Lansing, Mich./Waverly) is 18th in the country in kickoff return average at 26.8. Dunn had one kickoff return for 24 yards last week. On the year, he has 17 kickoff returns for 455 yards and the only kickoff return (not off an onside kick) for a touchdown in the GLIAC this year.
Senior Jerriel Burrus (Belleville, Mich.) is 35th nationally in punt return average at 11.0.
In team statistics, Wayne State is 16th in rushing offense (193.1 yards per game) and 10th in kickoff return average (23.41).
The Warriors play their regular-season finale this Saturday at Ferris State.
