Eighteen (18) members of the 2006 Wayne State football team were named to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Academic team.
To be eligible for GLIAC All-Academic status, a student athlete must have: a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or greater (on a 4.0 scale); must be a starter or key reserve; and must not be a freshman or first-year transfer.
Selected to the GLIAC All-Academic team were seniors Dan Barnes (Grand Ledge, Mich.), Chad Blair (Roseville, Mich.), Ryan Oshnock (Lakeview, Mich.) and Jake Weingartz (Lapeer, Mich./East), juniors Alan Guy (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams), Smith Julmisse (Oakland Park, Fla./Westminster), Dale Knuth (Canton, Mich./Dearborn Divine Child), Frank Lietke (Walled Lake, Mich./Central), John Rehberg (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson) and Kenny Schmidt (Waterford, Mich./Mott), sophomores Mickey Berce (Dearborn, Mich.), Antonio Mansour (Sterling Hts., Mich.), Adam Nuckols (Waterford, Mich./Mott) and Jason Thomas (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary), and redshirt freshmen Terrence Mansour (Sterling Hts., Mich.), Ray Rocheleau (Newport, Mich./Monroe Jefferson), Bruno Shkreli (Livonia, Mich./Clarenceville) and Brent Wisniewski (Madison Hts., Mich./Lamphere).
Oshnock, a fifth-year senior, was honored for the fourth time in his career, while Barnes, Knuth, Rehberg, Schmidt, and Weingartz have earned the award three times. Berce, Guy, and Lietke were named for the second season in a row.
