Lockport, Ill. - Wayne State University junior golfer Joe Wilson (Trenton, Mich.) is tied-for-26th after the first day of the 2006 NCAA Super Regional (Great Lakes/Central Regions) being held at Prairie Bluff Golf Club in Lockport, Ill.

He is fourth of the five individuals competing. The top finisher not with a team qualifying for nationals will represent the region at the NCAA Finals scheduled for May 16-19 at Glade Springs Resort in Daniels, W. Va.

Wilson had three birdies, six bogeys and one double bogey to finish with a five over-par 77.

The regional consists of 54 holes (18 each on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday).

Northern Kentucky leads the team standings with a 288 and is followed by Saginaw Valley (296), Grand Valley (299) and Ferris State (300).

Grand Valley's Steve Larson is the day one clubhouse leader at three-under 69.
