Lockport, Ill - Wayne State junior golfer Joe Wilson (Trenton, Mich.) shot an even-par 72 in the final round of the NCAA Super Regional on Wednesday. He finished in a tie-for-16th overall with a nine over-par score of 225 (77-76-72).

Of the five individual qualifiers from the Great Lakes Region competing in the event, held at Prairie Bluff Golf Course in Lockport, Ill., Wilson had the third-lowest score over the 54 holes. Gannon's Dave Patronik had a second-place score of 213 (73-72-68), and Corey Sell of Wisconsin-Parkside finished in a tie-for-fifth at 218 (71-71-76).

Wilson had two birdies on the front nine, and with one bogie was one under par halfway through the course on Wednesday. He bogied two holes on the back nine, but recovered to birdie hole #18 to get back to even.

Wilson's total score ties current head coach Mike Horn, who shot a 225 at the 1986 GLIAC Championship, for the 10th-lowest score for a 54-hole event in WSU history.

Grand Valley State's Steve Larson topped the leaderboard at 211 (69-73-69), five under par for the event. The Lakers finished third (888) in the team standings, however, behind Northern Kentucky (885) and Saginaw Valley State (883).
