JOPLIN, Mo. - With a final round score of 293, the Wayne State golf team moved from eighth to fifth at the NCAA Division II Super Regional. The Warriors posted a three-day total of 892 (300-299-293).
Ferris State won the event by 17 strokes (290-284-290--864) over second-place Indianapolis (299-286-296--881). Saginaw Valley State finished third (293-296-294--883), followed by Grand Valley State (291-296-304--891).
Findlay (295-299-299--893), Northern Kentucky (295-306-299--900), and Bellarmine (300-294-309--903) rounded out the eight-team field.
Joe Wilson was the top finishing Warrior, shooting 220 (73-71-76) to tie for ninth. Ryan Johnson tied for 20th with a score of 223 (77-72-74).
Joe Juszczyk and Brett Hudson each shot an even-par 72 in the final round to help Wayne State move up on the leaderboard. Juszczyk finished in a tie for 23rd (75-77-72--224), and Hudson was tied for 28th (75-79-72--226). Lance Chamberlain came in 44th place (79-81-75--235).
