MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Wayne State golf team took 11 strokes off its combined score from yesterday to move from fifth to third by the end of the second day at the Northern Michigan Invitational.

The Warriors (310-299--609) finished behind Grand Valley State (297-293--590) and Findlay (307-299--606) and ahead of Northwood (305-310--615) and the host Wildcats (305-324--629).

Senior Lance Chamberlain (Allen Park, Mich.) was the top finisher for Wayne State, posting a score of 69 in the second round, the lowest score of the weekend for any golfer, and placing fifth overall (80-69--149).

Redshirt junior Ryan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron), the leader after Saturday's round, finished seventh (71-79--150), and senior Joe Wilson (Trenton, Mich.) rounded out the top 12 with a 153 (80-73).

Also participating for the Warriors were redshirt freshman Joe Juszczyk (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child) in 24th place (81-78--159), freshman Bryan Lynch (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland) in 27th (79-82--161), and newcomer Brett Hudson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Orchard Lake St. Mary's) in 31st (87-77=164).

The Warriors will head to the west side of the state next weekend for invitationals at Ferris State on Saturday and Grand Valley State on Sunday and Monday.
