Final Stats

Canton, Mich. - The Wayne State University men's golf team began its 2005-06 season by hosting the Motor City Invitational. WSU moved its tournament from April to September after Lake Superior and Hillsdale dropped their golf programs.

Grand Valley won the team title with a 607 (301-306) and was followed by Ferris State (314-295--609), Findlay (306-306--612), Wayne State (309-308--617), Mercyhurst (315-305--620), Northwood (316-306--622), Gannon (325-305--630) and Wayne State's "B" team (333-334--667).

Findlay's Eric Atsma won medalist honors with a 143 (69-74).

Leading WSU on day two were Lance Chamberlain and Jacob Abramson as each shot a 76. Joe Wilson carded a 77, while both Nathan Johnson and Chris Hill shot a 79.

Wilson and Chamberlain tied for ninth at 152, while Abramson was tied for 15th at 155. Johnson was tied for 22nd at 158 with Hill tying for 34th at 166.

Both Kevin Zeleji and Cory Vandivier tied for 31st at 163, while Cole Muncy tied for 38th at 168. Don Kring was 42nd (173) and Mike Malandrucco was 44th at 176.

Wayne State's next tournament is Sept. 17-18 at Ferris State's Katke Golf Course.
