BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Wayne State golf team finished fifth (294-297--591) at the 36-hole Bulldog Fall Invitational, hosted by Ferris State University, on Saturday at Katke Golf Course.
Grand Valley State (285-293--578) won the event in a playoff over Saginaw Valley State (290-288--578), while the host Bulldogs (303-286--589) tied-for-third with Lewis University (290-299--589). Findlay (301-291--592), Northwood (300-293--593), St. Joseph's (296-304--600), Ashland (311-297--608), and Northern Michigan (313-297--610) rounded out the bottom five.
Ryan Johnson (71-76) and Joe Juszczyk (72-75) were the top finishing Warriors, each with a 22nd-place score of 147. Brett Hudson was not far behind, as he tied-for-26th with a 148 (76-72).
Wayne State also got strong performances from Joe Wilson, who tied-for-31st (75-74--149), and Lance Chamberlain, whose 154 (77-77) put him in a tie-for-45th).
Other participants for the Warriors were Ben Shunkwiler (76-73--149; T-31st place), Bryan Lynch (80-72--152; T-37th), and Dave Anderson (86-77--163; 65th).
Wayne State will play in the Grand Valley State Invitational on Sunday and Monday.
