ALLENDALE, Mich. - Ryan Johnson is tied for the lead after the first day at the Laker Invitational, hosted by Grand Valley State, as the Warriors are fourth overall, five strokes off the pace.

Grand Valley's split squad holds the top two positions on the leaderboard, as the Black team is in first place with 297 followed by the Blue team at 300. Ashland is in third (301), and Ferris State (306) rounds out the top five.

Johnson shot a 72 for the opening 18 holes, putting him in a tie with Ferris State's Jeff Carlson for the top spot.

Joe Wilson is currently tied-for-10th after his first round score of 75, and Lance Chamberlain is a stroke behind and tied-for-16th.

Joe Juszczyk shot a 79, and Brett Hudson posted a score of 88. Warriors playing in the invitational as individuals include Dave Anderson (79), Bryan Lynch (84), and Ben Shunkwiler (87).

The Laker Invitational will continue on Monday.
