ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Wayne State golf team finished in a tie-for-fourth (302-306--608) with Ashland after the second and final round of the Grand Valley State Invitational on Monday.

The split Laker squads (300-295--595; 297-299--596) remained in the top two spots, and Saginaw Valley State (313-289--602) posted the best single-round team score to jump from seventh to third.

WSU and Ashland finished ahead of Findlay (308-303--611), Ferris State (306-305--611), Wisconsin-Parkside (317-309--626), Northwood (318-308--626), Northern Michigan (324-304--628), and St. Joseph's (332-312--644).

Ryan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron), the co-leader through yesterday's round, finished in a tie-for-fifth (72-76--148). Joe Wilson (Trenton, Mich.) matched his first-round score of 75 to tie-for-11th overall (150).

Lance Chamberlain (Allen Park, Mich.) shot a 158 (74-80) to tie-for-39th, Joe Juszczyk finished in a tie-for-43rd (79-80--159), and Brett Hudson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Orchard Lake St. Mary's) tied-for-54th (88-75--163).

Warriors participating individually included Dave Anderson (Sarnia, Ont./St. Clair Secondary), who shot a 156 (T34th), Bryan Lynch (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland), who scored a 161 (T48th), and Ben Shunkwiler (Livonia, Mich./Dearborn Crestwood), who posted a score of 178 (71st).

Wayne State will travel to South Haven to play in the NCAA Regional #1 at HawksHead on Sunday and Monday.
