WSU's men's golf team finished up a busy three-day stretch of competition in western Michigan with a seventh-place placing at the Grand Valley State Fall Invitational held at The Meadows in Allendale. The Warriors shot a first round total of 305 before windy conditions forced them to record a 319 for a total of 624.
Senior Jacob Abramson (St. Clair, Mich.), who overcame the flu, tied for 22nd with a 76-78--154 score. Senior Nathan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron) was one of nine golfers to card a birdie on his way to a 73-82--155 tied for 28th place showing.
Sophomores Joe Wilson (Trenton, Mich.) and Lance Chamberlain (Allen Park, Mich.) each tied for 47th place with a 159 total, while Kevin Zeleji (Southgate, Mich./Anderson) shot an 82-80--162 in a tie for 55th.
Wayne State now prepares for the first of three NCAA Regionals on Sept. 25-26 at HawksHead in South Haven.
