SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. - Through the first round of the NCAA Great Lakes Regional at HawksHead on Sunday, the Wayne State golf team is in a three-way tie for third place with a team score of 293.

The Warriors, along with Grand Valley State and Saginaw Valley State, are five strokes off the pace set by the leaders from Findlay (288). Second-place Indianapolis is two strokes back at 290.

Ryan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron), last year's runner-up, is tied for sixth after shooting 72 in the opening round. Bryan Lynch's (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland) score of 73 put him in a tie for 12th, while Brett Hudson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Orchard Lake St. Mary's) and Joe Juszczyk (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child) are among those who shot 74 to tie for 22nd. Eric Johnson (Marquette, Mich.) is tied for 84th with a score of 79.

The Regional at HawksHead will continue Monday.
