SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. - The Wayne State golf team finished in ninth place (300-305--605) out of 23 teams at the Great Lakes Regional at HawksHead.
Ferris State won the event (294-290--584), overtaking first-round leader Bellarmine (293-297--590). Three schools - Indianapolis (298-293), Northern Kentucky (296-295), and Saginaw Valley State (297-294) - finished at 591 for third place, followed by Grand Valley State (300-299--599) in sixth, Northwood (299-304--603) in seventh, and Findlay in eighth (301-303--604). Ashland (301-305--606) rounded out the top 10.
Ryan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron), who was in a tie-for-20th following Sunday's opening round, shot a tournament-low 68 on Monday to move into second place overall (74-68--142).
Joe Juszczyk (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child), the co-leader through Sunday, finished in a tie-for-18th (70-78--148). Joe Wilson (Trenton, Mich.) tied-for-67th (78-77--155), Brett Hudson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Orchard Lake St. Mary's) shot 160 (78-82) to tie-for-89th, and Lance Chamberlain (Allen Park, Mich.) placed in a tie-for-97th (79-82--161).
Wayne State will host the Motor City Invitational on Friday at Pheasant Run in Canton.
