SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. - The men's golf team finished in a tie with Northern Michigan for 17th place after the final round of the NCAA Great Lakes Fall Regional on Monday.
WSU posted a team score of 303 in the second round, six strokes better than their first round score. However, it was not enough to move them up in the standings, as their total team score of 612 was two strokes behind 16th-place Findlay (300-310).
Senior Nathan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron), the top-finishing Warrior in the event, matched his first round score of 75, putting him in a tie for 33rd place with a combined score of 150. Senior Jacob Abramson (St. Clair, Mich.) put up the best single-round score of the event for Wayne State, shooting a 72 on Monday for a total score of 151, tied for 35th.
Junior Joe Wilson (Trenton, Mich.) finished in a tie for 61th place (77-78--155), junior Lance Chamberlain (Allen Park, Mich.) tied for 72nd place (78-78--156), and senior Chris Hill (Sarnia, Ont./St. Patrick's) shot a 159 (81-78) to tie for 87th.
The Warriors will move on to the Northwood Invitational at Currie Golf Course on Friday, Sept. 30.
