BAY CITY, Mich. - Ryan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron) finished in first place (67-71--138) as the Warriors took third overall at the Bay Valley Intercollegiate (298-287--585) over the weekend at the Bay Valley Golf Club.
Johnson matched his own school record with an opening round score of 67 on Saturday, and shot an even-par 71 on Sunday to maintain his lead over the field.
Lance Chamberlain (Allen Park, Mich.) shot a two-over 73 to move into a tie-for 19th (76-73--149), while Joe Wilson (Trenton, Mich.) took 13 stokes off his first round score to tie-for-30th (82-69--151).
Joe Juszczyk (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child) shot 152 (73-79) to finish in a tie-for-36th, and Brett Hudson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Orchard Lake St. Mary's) tied-for-43rd (82-74--156).
Participating individually, Dave Anderson (Sarnia, Ont./St. Clair Secondary) tied-for-30th (80-71--151), Bryan Lynch (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland) finished in 42nd place (77-78--155), and Ben Shunkwiler (Livonia, Mich./Dearborn Crestwood) placed 49th (82-82--164).
Wayne State will play in the GLIAC Championships at Currie Golf Course in Midland starting next Sunday.
