MIDLAND, Mich. - The Wayne State golf team is tied with Saginaw Valley State for sixth place through the first round of the GLIAC Championship at Currie Golf Course in Midland.
Grand Valley State leads the field through Saturday's round (292), followed by Findlay (294). Ferris State and Gannon are tied at 300, and Northwood is in fifth with 301. Ashland (305), Mercyhurst (319), and Northern Michigan (324) round out the top 10 teams.
Ryan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron) is in a four-way tie for second place after posting a first-round score of 72. Joe Juszczyk (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child) is four strokes behind (76) in a tie-for 19th.
Joe Wilson (Trenton, Mich.) is tied-for-27th (77), Lance Chamberlain (Allen Park, Mich.) is in a tie-for-36th (79), and Brett Hudson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Orchard Lake St. Mary's) is tied-for-40th (80).
The second round will be played on Sunday, Oct. 8.
