MIDLAND, Mich. - The Wayne State golf team finished in eighth place following the third and final round at Currie Golf Course in Midland on Sunday.
The Warriors posted identical scores of 304 in each of the three rounds, 31 strokes behind the leaders from Grand Valley State.
Ryan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron) was the top finishing Warrior, taking second place (72-73-70--215). His total score was just two strokes shy of the WSU 54-hole record of 213, set by Joe Spatafore in 1983. Johnson made nine birdies and 38 pars in the tournament.
Brett Hudson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Orchard Lake St. Mary's) tied-for-36th with a score of 233 (80-77-76), and Joe Wilson (Trenton, Mich.) was a stroke behind in a tie-for-39th (77-76-81--234).
Joe Juszczyk (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child) shot a 235 (76-78-81--235) for 43rd place, and Lance Chamberlain (Allen Park, Mich.) took 44th (79-80-77--236).
The Warriors will wrap up their fall schedule at the Owens Invitational in Perrysburg, Ohio, on Friday, Oct. 13.
